Assessment of public awareness on antimicrobial resistance and practices for antimicrobial use in Dodoma region of Tanzania

  01 March 2025

This study assesses public awareness of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in the Dodoma region, focusing on common antimicrobial use practices and the influence of socio-economic factors. Results show that 49% of respondents are aware of AMR, with gender and education level playing a significant role. Drug misuse practices include sharing antimicrobials with family members, self-medication, and non-adherence to dosage. The study suggests that increasing awareness and improving healthcare services could help reduce AMR misuse behaviors.
